The whey cure was launched here in Gais in 1748 and was used worldwide in the following decades. Healing seekers from all over the world with chronic infections came to Gais, drank fresh whey from the mountain farmers every day and breathed in the fresh mountain air. Although the whey cure has since lost its importance, Gais welcomes many thousands of guests every year to relax, regenerate and recharge their batteries. The main building of the Alpstein Clinic is located directly on the historic village square in Gais, which has been recognized by the Swiss Heritage Society for its beautiful townscape.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
