AmalgamA Risk to Your Health
Dear Patients,
Did you know that amalgam is considered hazardous waste after removal from the mouth and must not be disposed of in sewage systems? Nevertheless, it has been a widely used filling material in dentistry for decades.
What is amalgam?
What is amalgam?
Amalgam is a metallic mixture consisting of approximately 50% mercury – one of the most toxic elements for the human organism. Other components include copper, silver and tin. Amalgam is now banned or no longer used in many countries.
The main problem is the constant release of mercury, triggered by:
- Chemical decomposition (corrosion)
- Heat from eating or drinking
- Mechanical stress, such as chewing or teeth grinding
Mercury can enter the body via the oral mucosa. In the digestive tract, it is partially converted into organic mercury. This easily penetrates body cells and can cause lasting damage there. When these compounds encounter the breakdown products of certain germs, highly toxic compounds can be formed.
The US health authority ATSDR (Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry) points to scientifically proven links between amalgam, chronic diseases and an increased risk of cancer.
Our solution: safe amalgam removal
At the Alpstein Clinic, we do not use amalgam at all. Instead, we focus on holistic amalgam removal, which is medically supervised, individually planned and supplemented by targeted detoxification procedures. Our amalgam removal goes far beyond simply removing old fillings. Our concept combines dental care with biological and systemic support.
The restoration is carried out in three structured steps.
1. Safe removal with protective measures
- Using rubber dam, clean-up suction and respiratory protection
- To minimize mercury exposure during the procedure
2. Individual pre- and post-treatment
- In close coordination with our medical team
- Based on your personal exposure situation
3. Targeted systemic detoxification
- With antioxidants, trace elements and organ-supportive substances
- Optionally supplemented by individual infusions
- Supported by laboratory-based therapy monitoring
If mercury is not actively removed, it can remain in the body for years and cause silent inflammation or systemic stress.
