INUSpheresis® – targeted plasma filtration for modern medicine
Dear Patients,
Chronic exposure to environmental toxins can promote inflammatory processes and impair the immune system and metabolism. Possible consequences include persistent fatigue, reduced resilience or other health complaints.
INUSpheresis® is an extracorporeal plasma filtration procedure. It is based on what is known as double-filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP). The blood plasma is filtered outside the body in order to selectively reduce certain substances circulating within it.
What happens during INUSpheresis®?
What happens during INUSpheresis®?
During treatment, blood is withdrawn from the body through venous access. First, the plasma is separated from the blood cells. It is then passed through a specialised filtration system in which certain substances can be removed from the plasma. The filtered plasma and blood cells are then recombined and returned to the body through a second venous access.
The treatment is carried out on an outpatient basis and usually takes around two to three hours. A medical follow-up check takes place after the treatment. Depending on the initial situation, further sessions may be appropriate; the number of sessions and the intervals between them are determined individually by a doctor.
Which groups of substances are the focus?
The filtration spectrum encompasses various groups of substances circulating in the plasma. These include in particular:
- Autoantibodies, inflammatory markers and immune complexes
- Lipids
- Heavy metals
- Pesticides and solvents
- PFAS and microplastics
- Components of fine particulate matter
When can the procedure be considered?
Potential applications of INUSpheresis® include chronic fatigue and neurological complaints, chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, post-infectious complaints and environmental health burdens. Examples include chronic fatigue, brain fog, polyneuropathy, tinnitus, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, long COVID and Lyme disease.
Whether treatment with INUSpheresis® is medically appropriate in an individual case is decided on the basis of the person’s health situation, diagnostic findings and a doctor’s assessment.
Individual changes and realistic expectations
Changes in energy levels, resilience and mental clarity have been described in connection with the treatment. However, how a patient responds to the treatment varies from one individual to another. No general conclusions about a particular course or a specific improvement in symptoms can be drawn from this.
The focus is therefore not on a general promise of efficacy, but on whether the targeted reduction of certain circulating burden factors can form part of a medically substantiated overall treatment concept.
INUSpheresis® at the Alpstein Clinic
INUSpheresis® is a key treatment area at the Alpstein Clinic. The procedure is combined with comprehensive medical diagnostics and individual treatment planning. Patients from German-speaking countries and abroad receive medical support before, during and after treatment.
We look forward to meeting you in person
We would be pleased to discuss with you in person whether INUSpheresis® may be considered for your individual situation and which diagnostic steps may be appropriate beforehand.
