Visualization through CSR DiagnosticsMaking the invisible visible
CSR-Diagnostics in Switzerland — exclusively available at the Alpstein Clinic.
Recognize the most important things early on
We reveal what is crucial for treatment success — before the first step is even taken. At the Alpstein Clinic, we rely on a new dimension of diagnostics that enables a far more understanding of individual healing processes within the jaw.
Precise diagnostics for better treatment results
Advanced 3D visualization shows how the bone has truly developed after a procedure — individually, and often differently than expected. This allows us to detect early on whether an area has healed completely or whether hidden structures remain that could compromise the treatment success. CSR diagnostics provides the foundation for highly precise planning and long-term stable results.
Your benefits at a glance
- Early and precise diagnosis
- Individualized treatment planning
- Minimally invasive approach
- Increased safety for implants and procedures
- Long-term stability and successful treatment
Think about it in a holistic way: For your inner balance
Think about it in a holistic way: For your inner balance
In biological dentistry, we view the human body as an interconnected system. The jaw is closely connected to the immune system, the nervous system, and the body’s regulatory processes. Each tooth can be associated with specific organs. Relationships we deliberately integrate into both diagnostics and treatment. Our goal is to create optimal conditions for long-term balance and stability througout the body.

More InformationNotice: The tooth numbering in the film follows the universal system used in the USA, not the system used in Europe. This means that the numbering of the teeth in the upper and lower jaws is reversed.
What CSR stands for
The term covered socket residue (CSR) describes a condition that may occur after tooth extraction. While the surface appears to heal properly, underlying areas may not fully develop into stable bone and instead contain fatty or insufficiently regenerated tissue. These structures are not visible externally and often remain undetected for long periods.
In certain cases, they may affect the healing process, interfere with implant integration, or put long-term stress on the body.
Making the invisible visible
With specialized imaging techniques, these hidden structures can now be clearly identified. The three-dimensional visualization reveals both the location and the individual characteristics of potential abnormalties. This enables targeted, minimally invasive interventions and a solid basis for informed treatment decisions.
In the 3D model changes in the bone structure become visible where the natural bone healing is not yet complete or has been impaired. Cavities in the jawbone (in this case the lower jaw) can be precisely visualized from different perspectives and measured with millimeter-accuracy. This facilitates targeted treatment planning.

Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. Shahram Ghanaati is the lead researcher who identified, described, and established the CSR phenomenon in modern dental diagnostics.
The image shows an area of the lower jaw with a CSR (covered socket residue). The yellow marking indicates the course of the mandibular nerve, enabling affected areas to be precisely localized and interventions to be planned in a particularly nerve-friendly manner.
Areas of application / Indications
- Identification of interference fields after removal of teeth, wisdom teeth, root canal treated teeth.
- Assessment of bone quality and detection of healing deficits prior to implantation, to better predict the healing process
- Causal analysis of all chronic diseases (e.g., autoimmune diseases, neurodegenerative diseases or neurodermatitis)
- Identification of causes of systemic imbalance
